Yuri Matushevski was born in 1930 in the village Litvinovo located in the Kemerovo Region, Russian Federation.
Later he lived and worked in Podolsk, Moscow Region.
In 1949 he finished the Irkutsk Art School (studied under A.K.Rudenko) and then graduated from the Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) Institute of Applied Arts named after V.I.Mukhina. He was a pupil of N. Belyanin.
Since 1957 he has taken part in regional, republican, All-Union and international exhibitions (1983 in India), as well as various auctions in Great Britain, Germany, Japan, Italy, USA, Belgium, Sweden and many other countries.
One-man shows: 1963, 1979,1991, 1995 - Moscow
Matushevski has been a Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1960.
