People’s Artist of the USSR. The Full Member of the Academy of Arts of USSR. Laureate of the State prize named after Repin. Laureate of the State prize of Russia. Personal exhibitions were held in Moscow (1976, 1982, 1995, 1998), as well as in many other cities of Russia.
Viktor Ivanov graduated from the Surikov Moscow State Institute of Arts and studied under V.V.Pochitalov, A.A.Osmerkin, A.M.Gritsay, V.N.Yakovlev. Author of paintings dedicated to the reality of modern country life, portraits, and landscapes. Master in pencil drawing. The State Prize Laureate in 1968. One of the best masters of the “Severe Style”. Ivanov`s works are kept in the Tretyakov State Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and the Ryazan Provincial Museum of Arts. In 2004, the museum of the artist’s works was inaugurated in Ryazan.
