Valentin Sidorov took his first lessons at the art studio of the Pioneers’ Home where his teacher was Anatoly Mikhailov. Later he made studies at Moscow secondary art school, in the class of Mikhail Dobroserdov. On finishing the art school Sidorov joined the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Leningrad where his teachers were Pyotr Belousov, Rudolf Frents and Ivan Stepashkin.
1954 – Valentin Sidorov graduated from the Surikov Art Institute, the class of Pyotr Kotov, Fyodor Reshetnikov and Viktor Tsyplakov. On graduation Sidorov became Professor of the Surikov Art Institute.
1960–1966 – Sidorov was chief executive of the Academy’s Dacha, resting home for artists
1997 – Sidorov made decor for the production of the ballet Song of the Merchant Kalashnikov (music by Vladislav Kazenin) at the Omsk Theatre of Opera and Ballet
In 1951 Valentin Sidorov began to participate in public art exhibitions in Russia and abroad.
