Sorogin, Gennadi Pavlovich was born in August 25th, 1930 in town Serov, Sverdlov Region. In 1950 he finished Sverdlov Art College, where he was studied under the tutorship F. K. Shmelev (the student of I. Mashkov).
In 1956 finished one of the main and most respected Soviet and Russian Universities-Surikov Art Institute*, where he was studied in the department of Art and Drawings in the workroom of artist and professor P.P. Sokolov-Skalya and professor V.G. Tsyplakov. Professor Tsyplakov Sorogin’s teacher influenced young Sorogin’s art life enormously.
Sorogin, G.P. began exhibiting in 1956. His main works belong to the genres of thematic painting, landscapes, and portraiture. Artist-Sorogin follows the traditions of the Russian Realistic School. Diapason of the Sorogin’s works is wide; starting with historical paintings he spend a lot of time working on the artworks about Soviet people life's-their labor and time of relax; he doesn’t miss the thematic landscapes and portraiture of the famous people versus middle class (the only class during Soviet Union Time) people.
Became a member of the Union of the Artists of Russia in 1957 and awarded the status Merited Artist of Russia in 1986. Sorogin was always in the leading positions in every place he worked, for example he was a director of MOOSKh, a leading organizer of Association of the Artists-KKhR, and was a jury on the tests in the Surikov Art Institute.
His works were always very noticeable and different but it the same time shows pure Russian Socialism. His works took enormous amount of exhibitions and took many awards. Sorogin, G.P is Merited Artist* of Russian Federation.
