G.I. Tseitlin was born in 1911 in the town of Chernevko, Byelorussian SSR. In 1932 graduated from the Grekov Art College in Odessa (studied under A. Shovkunenko, D. Krainev, A. Gaush, T. Frayerman). In 1941 completed an advanced course for painters at the Surikov State art Institute in Moscow. Since 1939 – a participant in zonal, republican and All-Union exhibitions. G.Tseitlin is famous most of all as a portraitist. Since 1977 the painter has taken part in exhibitions abroad: West Berlin, Poland, Hungary, Germany, Japan, USA, Italy and France. Also in Lebanon, Holland, Spain, Finland, Greece, Canada and Belgium.
The painter had his one-man exhibitions in Moscow.
Tseitlin’s works are represented in the collections of the Tretyakov Art Gallery; the Kemerovo Art Museum; the Voronezh Art Museum; the Bakhrushin central Theatre museum in Moscow; the Odessa Picture Gallery; the Krasnodar picture Gallery; the Serpukhov Art Museum; the Kharkov Art Museum; the Tambov Picture Gallery; the Kazan Museum of Fine Arts.
