People’s artist of Russia, twice prize-winner of the State premium of USSR, professor
He was born on August, 27 in 1913 in the Ivanovo settlement, near Ples. The artist received the special artistic education in Ivanovo-Voznesensk art college, where he was a student of I.G.Burov. Afterwards he joined the Surikov State Arts Institute, which he graduated from in 1943 in the studio of G.G.Ryazhsky.
Since 1929 K.Maksimov has taken part in the art exhibitions. One-man exhibitions of K.M.Maksimov were held in Moscow in 1960, in Kostroma, in Ivanovo and in Moscow again in 1978.
K.Maksimov paintings were shown in the art exhibitions in Germany, Netherlands, France, China and other countries.
K.Maksimov is well known as a master of psychological portrait. He is the author of the beautiful and famous portraits of A.T.Tvardovsky and N.D.Zelinsky. K. Maksimov also painted the portrait, called “Sashka-traktorist/ The boy Sasha-tractor driver”, where the image of a concrete person became by a historical portrait of a Russian peasant. Everyone can find K.Maksimov paintings in the best museums of Russia: State Tretyakov Gallery, State Russian Museum, Chuvash State Art Gallery, Kostroma Regional Museum of paintings, in the museums of Kalinin, Astrakhan, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Sverdlovsk, and also in the private collections in Russia and abroad.
